This position collaborates with the other members of the treatment team in the provision of comprehensive health care services to Female Veterans at the Rockford and Freeport CBOCs to include: ensuring equity of access, service, and benefits to this population, ensuring the care provided is of the highest quality. They provides leadership, direction, orientation, coaching, in-service training, staff development, and continuing education programs for assigned social work staff.
Duties
Duties include but are not limited to:
Performs specialized treatment of complex behavioral health disorders and is independent with DSM 5 diagnostic interviewing.
Provides clinical care including individual, group, and couples psychotherapy and advanced level case management interventions used in the treatment of veterans with mental health disorders.
Incorporates multiple causation analysis with differential diagnosis, assessment, and treatment of veteran patients within approved clinical privileges or scope of practice.
Seamlessly collaborates across disciplines to maximize Veterans access to quality mental health care.
Identifies training deficits and/or ongoing clinical competency needs for staff in the mental health social work program areas in collaboration with the Program Manager.
Other duties as assigned
Work Schedule: Monday-Friday 8:00am-4:30pm, Occasional evening shift rotation

Qualifications

Basic Requirements: The following are the basic requirements and qualifications for appointment as a Social Worker in the Veterans Health Administration (VHA).
English Language Proficiency Requirement - Per VA Handbook 5005, Part II, Chapter 3, Section A, Paragraph 3j: No person will be appointed under authority of 38 U.S.C., chapter 73 or 74, to serve in a direct patient-care capacity in VHA who is not proficient in written and spoken English.
Education Requirement - You must have a master's degree in social work from a school of social work fully accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE). Note: Graduates of schools of social work that are in candidacy status do not meet this requirement until the school of social work is fully accredited. A doctoral degree in social work may not be substituted for the master's degree. Transcripts Required
Licensure: Candidates must possess a full, current, and unrestricted license to independently practice as a Social Worker at the advanced practice level in a State, Territory, Commonwealth of the United States, or the District of Columbia. Copy of Licensure Required.
In addition to meeting the basic requirements as stated above, you must have the following experience to qualify for this GS-12 Senior Social Worker.
Experience GS-12 Grade Level: The candidate must have at least two years of experience post advanced practice clinical licensure and should be in a specialized area of social work practice of which, one year must be equivalent to the GS-11 grade level. Senior social workers have experience that demonstrates possession of advanced practice skills and judgment. Senior social workers are experts in their specialized area of practice. Senior social workers may have certification or other post-masters training from a nationally recognized professional organization or university that includes a defined curriculum/course of study and internship or equivalent supervised professional experience in a specialty.
Licensure/Certification. Individuals assigned as a Senior Social Worker must be licensed or certified at the advanced practice level and must be able to provide supervision for licensure.
Demonstrated Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities. In addition to the experience above, the candidate must demonstrate all of the following KSAs:
- Skill in a range of specialized interventions and treatment modalities used in specialty treatment programs or with special patient populations. This includes individual, group, and/or family counseling or psychotherapy and advanced level psychosocial and/or case management.
- Ability to incorporate complex multiple causation in differential diagnosis and treatment within approved clinical privileges or scope of practice.
- Knowledge in developing and implementing methods for measuring effectiveness of social work practice and services in the specialty area, utilizing outcome evaluations to improve treatment services and to design system changes.
- Ability to provide specialized consultation to colleagues and students on the psychosocial treatment of patients in the service delivery area, as well as role modeling effective social work practice skills.
- Ability to expand clinical knowledge in the social work profession, and to write policies, procedures, and/or practice guidelines pertaining to the service delivery area.
Preferred Experience: Women's Health Experience is Preferred.

Physical Requirements: The work is sedentary and is usually accomplished while the employee is comfortably seated at a desk or table.
