The Bay Pines VA Healthcare System (BPVAHCS) Program Support Assistant is responsible for on site planning, operation, and administrative coordination of the Fisher House Program in collaboration with the Fisher House Manager and Fisher House Assistant Manager(s). The Bay Pines Fisher House is located at the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), Veterans Health Administration, VA Sunshine Healthcare Network, C.W. Bill Young VA Medical Center, Bay Pines Florida.
Duties
Duties include but are not limited to:
Specialized Duties in Personnel Management and Administration.
Assist with data collection and tracking support.
Collection, data entry, compilation and/or tracking of data and statistical information.
Expresses information to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information.
Presents clear and convincing presentations.
Listens to others, attends to nonverbal clues, and responds accordingly.
Communicate effectively, orally and in writing, with employees at all levels of the Healthcare System to support service.
Meeting the needs of customers (internal and external) while supporting the Medical Center and service missions.
Handles conflicts and problems in dealing with the customer constructively and appropriately.
Knowledge of the principles, methods, and tools for automating, developing, implementing or administering database systems.
Utilizing practical knowledge of computerized data entry, and will apply knowledge of standard procedures utilizing medical records within the Computerized Patient Record System (CPRS).
Preparing, processing of correspondences, reports, and forms, filing and mail procedures.
Serves as the service purchase order clerk.
Serves as service timekeeper.
Completes other duties as assigned.
Work Schedule: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday & Saturday 2:00 PM - 10:30 PM

Physical Requirements: The work is both sedentary and at times, physically challenging. Some physical efforts, such as standing, walking, bending, or sitting, occasional moving/lifting of equipment, stair climbing or occasionally carrying items (such as mail, records, donated items etc.) of more than 50 pounds, may be required. Work is generally performed in an office setting with adequate light, heat, and ventilation. May also include off-premises and outside tasks related to purchasing of Fisher House supplies, setting up, breaking down and manning FH events.

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement.
GS-06 grade level: One year of specialized experience (equivalent to the GS-05 grade level in the federal service). Experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities (KSA's) and other characteristics to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled, in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization.
Specialized Experience Includes: Reviews, analyzes, coordinates, and submits required monthly, quarterly, Bi-Annual, and annual reports to include Action Items. Timekeeping experience and record management designee. Assisting with data collection and tracking support. Utilizing multiple software packages to include but not limited to Microsoft Excel, Power Point, MS Word, Patient Record System and or other database system. Prepares correspondence to ensure proper formatting, accuracy and reflects correct English and grammar. Prioritizing daily task workload. Providing excellent communication and customer service. Serves as service purchase order clerk.
There is no educational substitution for the GS-06 level.

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
