The primary purpose of this position is to serve with direct responsibility to the Group Commander to manage, administer, plan, and execute the Wing/Group Commander's Inspection Program (CCIP) with the specific goal of informing the Group Commander of areas of mission execution shortfalls and areas of non-compliance. Serves as the unit point of contact for the CCIP.

Duties

Manages the Commander's Inspection Program (CCIP). Oversees, plans and executes the Commander's Inspection Program (CCIP). Responsible for compliance with legal and regulatory requirements, and ensuring the best interest of the Air Force and Airmen needs are met. Plans, schedules, and executes inspections and exercises. Develops, plans, executes, and controls inspections and exercises to accurately assess unit compliance effectiveness and readiness. Leads/trains/manages Wing Inspection Team (WIT). Serves as WIT Chief. Ensures WIT personnel are properly selected and trained. Attends meetings, conferences, briefings, and seminars related to program planning, advanced technologies and support system concepts. Exercises supervisory personnel management responsibilities.Advises and provides counsel to employees regarding policies, procedures, and directives of management.

  • This is an AFRC key management position in which the incumbent is required to formulate, determine or influence policies of the assigned units.
  • As necessary, to meet special or essential unscheduled activities, may be required to work an uncommon tour of duty with brief advance notice.
  • May be required to work weekends during the unit training assembly (UTA) weekends.
  • The incumbent may be required to fly in military and/or commercial aircraft to perform temporary duty assignments (TDY).

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-11, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes knowledge of a wide range of qualitative and quantitative methods for the assessment and improvement of critical unit plans and programs such as mission and flight operations, tactical training, deployment, mobilization, budgeting, exercise planning, legal, contingency, or similar operations. Knowledge of military command structure, missions, programs, and organizational relationships and program goals and objectives, the sequence and timing of key operational events and milestones, and methods of evaluating the effectiveness of planning actions as related to actual events. Knowledge of the various command entities involved in overall planning and execution of operations and evaluations. FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time--in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-11 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-12 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: Knowledge of inspection and exercise planning, inspection criteria, deployment and employment processes and a mastery of, and skill in applying laws and regulation to inspection and compliance work. Knowledge of the mission, organization, programs, and functions of the unit and a thorough understanding of their relationship to Air Force systems. Skill and ability in oral and written communications to prepare and deliver briefings, lead discussions, motivate personnel, conduct workshops and seminars, and prepare project and staff reports. Skill in identifying and analyzing compliance issues and developing expert technical advise and making expert recommendations to resolve substantive issues. Expert knowledge of analytical and evaluative methods and techniques to analyze, review, and assess unit effectiveness. Knowledge of interrelationship of data gathered from units with different missions in developing measurements to improve organizational effectiveness. Ability to plan, organize and direct the functions and staff of a small to medium sized organization. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
