Duties
Serve as subject matter expert for the Future Operations and Planning Branch for the Defense Health Agency, J3 Operations, with responsibility for planning future operations in support of Combatant Command operations.
This position requires a high level of knowledge in interagency operations, requiring direct coordination amongst Non-Governmental Organizations (NGO) and Partner Nations.
These complex missions require extensive planning, spanning the entire enterprise, while touching all levels of the joint process.
Responsible for understanding and applying many disciplines, including, but not limited to, Joint Planning and Execution Community (JPEC), intricate legal authorities, multiple funding sources, requests for joint/combined/interagency forces, etc.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Top-Secret security clearance or access. A pre-employment and recurring comprehensive background investigations are required.
- One-year supervisory probationary period required. A one-year probationary period is required if the selectee has not previously met this requirement.
- This position is a Testing Designated Position subject to pre-employment screening and random drug testing. Selectees will be required to consent to participation in random drug urinalysis testing.

Basic Requirements for Future Operations Manager GS-0301-14:
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes, assisting in monitoring future or ongoing planning activities for the organization; assisting in outlining issues that involve future operations; and participating in cross-functional duties in order to conduct a full extensive analytical review to execute project designs. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-13).
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
