You will serve as a ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION SPECIALIST (SPILLS) in the Hazardous Waste Management Branch of MARINE CORPS AIR GROUND COMBAT CTR.
Duties
You will provide expert technical, procedural, and regulatory guidance and legal operational constraints of assigned area of responsibility for the prevention of environmental spills and/or releases.
You will review, conceive, revise, develop and/or promulgate environmental policy and procedure in the specified areas to ensure the mission is executed with minimal impact of operations.
You will provide direct and indirect oversight on the required implementation of prevention measures, corrective action or abatement measures to control a release and to perform restoration of a release site.
You will perform field sampling and analysis of spilled or released materials.
You will investigate, monitor, track, and report as required by regulation all hazardous material and hazardous waste storage areas, and measures being utilized to prevent a release and measures taken in the vent of one.
You will provide formal and informal instruction to organizations, units, and individuals on spills/release requirements.
You will perform inquiries, investigations, monitor, track and report all actions causing a release, and measures taken to mitigate, abate, and restore a site of environmental release.
Requirements

- You may be required to independently lift and carry objects up to 40 pounds.
- This is bargaining unit position.
- You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
- Must maintain a valid class C driver's license.
- The incumbent might be required to work extended period during the supervision of abatement and spill cleanup actions.
- Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Planning, organizing, coordinating, managing, and executing the abatement, clean?up, and restoration of hazardous substance releases program for an organization. 2) Providing direct and indirect oversight to responsible organizations, units, and individuals on the required implementation of spill prevention measures, corrective action, or abatement measures to control of a release and to perform restoration of a release site. 3) Providing technical assistance, guidance, and direction to the command, organizations, units, and individuals to ensure sound environmental prevention, protection of resources, and response management occurring with minimal impacts to operations, the environment, and resources.

Education
In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:
Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree
or
3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree
or
LL.M., if related
