You will serve as a QUALITY ASSURANCE SPECIALIST (ELEC) in the Combat Division of the Electrical group (370) of SUPERVISOR OF SHIPBUILDING BATH. You will provide primary contractual and quality oversight of the government contracted ship building and repair efforts conducted by the Bath Iron Works (BIW) company.
Duties
You will maintain familiarity with a variety of requirements and specifications such as contracts, build and performance specifications; functional and detailed drawings; commercial, government and military instructions, directives and standards.
You will monitor the capability of the builder’s processes, regularly audits their in-process execution, and inspects the final products produced.

You will prepare and monitor surveillance plans, and sampling criteria, for the fabrication, installation, activation, testing, and trials of numerous shipboard systems.
You will plan and apply QA methods/techniques to audit and monitor contractor's QA system and processes; production, waterfront and storage facilities; industrial safety, fire and security programs; and contractual personnel qualification programs.
You will monitor corrective actions undertaken to both assure the product delivered adheres to referenced standards, that corrective actions prove successful and adequate to prevent recurrence.
You will serve as a member of the Supervisor's MOCK INSURV Board, assessing the ship's readiness to operate during acceptance trials; and provides assessment and recommendations.
You will serve as the primary Government representative in assigned area.
You will coordinate production, test and oversight efforts of ship's force, government and builder QA personnel off-site government/industry certification/inspection teams, and external entities contracted to provide support to shipbuilding program.

- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the pay band NH-02 (GS-11 Equivalent) in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: conducting quality assurance (QA) assessments or audits of contractor performance to ensure compliance with QA specifications and requirements in support of shipbuilding operations for electrical or electronic systems.

In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:
Education may be substituted for specialized experience as follows:
- Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree with a major study in quality assurance, statistics, mathematics, production management, industrial management, computer science, engineering, engineering technology, physical sciences, textiles, or other fields related to the position.; OR
- Three full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in one of the major study fields above.; OR
- A combination of experience and graduate education as described above that equates to one year of experience.
