You will serve as a QUALITY ASSURANCE SPECIALIST (SHIPS) in the Quality Assurance Division (Code 300) of SUPERVISOR OF SHIPBUILDING BATH. You will be responsible for contractor and internal quality assurance planning and execution, internal and external auditing, technical directorate quality metrics and other key quality-related business processes.
Duties
You will provide quality-engineering expertise with regards to oversight of the contractor’s shipbuilding Quality Assurance programs.
You will review the performance of quality assurance program elements by analyzing quality assurance data, corrective actions, defect rates, problem reports and external audits.
You will develop surveillance programs and methods based on product/process criticality, failure rates and statistically based sampling plans.
You will utilize risk management techniques, develop planning tools and guidelines to prepare a comprehensive surveillance program to be implemented by other team leaders.
You will provide training to quality assurance personnel statistical tools and methodologies.
You will prepare quality data evaluation metrics to assure contractors performance is measurable and quantifiable; and can be used for shipyard performance evaluation purposes.
You will investigate and evaluate technical, procedural and manufacturing process problems, which occur during the design, construction and testing of Naval ships.
You will provide technical quality assessment, guidance and consultant services to the quality assurance directorate managers and employees.
You will lead and conduct audits on contractor products and processes in accordance with previously developed standardize procedures.
You will lead and conduct internal audits and provide assessment of internal performance and recommend improvements to internal management systems.

- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the (GS-11) grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: conducting quality assurance functions (e.g. contractor surveillance, audits, inspections, etc.) to support construction, repair, or overhaul of ships or ship systems.
