Duties
This position is located in the Special Events Program (SEP), Department of Homeland Security (DHS). The DHS SEP coordinates Federal response activities for special events by facilitating the interagency Special Events Working Group (SEWG), overseeing the National Special Events Data Call, coordinating the selection and support of appointed Federal Coordination Teams (FCTs), and providing special event situational awareness to DHS Senior Leaders, the SEWG, and the National Operations Center (NOC). The SEP staff engages in direct outreach to local, state, and federal event planners, executes the administrative oversight and the facilitation of all coordination activities within the SEWG.
Requirements
- Must be a current permanent Federal employee
- Must have supervisory approval to apply to the Joint Duty Assignment. DHS 250-2 Application Form under "required documents" section.
- Must NOT have any pending/outstanding disciplinary actions
- Must have achieved a minimum of "meet expectations/proficiency" on latest performance appraisal/evaluation
- Must be currently at the grade level of the detail. *No Temporary Promotion Opportunity*
- The program does not apply to members of the Military service or contractors.
Qualifications
Qualifications required:
Establishes and maintains liaison with other external representatives to ensure appropriate information is: 1) collected; 2) analyzed; 3) shared; and 4) maintained. May also execute logistical planning pertaining to special event deployments, training and field support missions, and Federal Coordination Team engagement.
Researches, analyzes, and provides technical advice and assistance on complex special event related issues, such as issues or problems which impact substantive, mission-oriented programs. Recommendations may pertain to complex conclusions drawn from evaluative studies; and adherence to budget constraints as they relate to cost/benefit analysis. Recommendations impact long-range planning and implementation of program objectives.
