About the Position: This position is located in the Directorate of Plans, Training, Mobilization, and Security (DPTMS), Training Division. Fort Hood rests in the beautiful hill and lake country of Central Texas between Killeen and Copperas Cove and is approximately 60 miles north of the capital city of Austin, 50 miles south of Waco, 160 miles south of Dallas, and 150 miles north of San Antonio. The Great Place is the ideal location, because of warm winters and hot summers.

Duties

Manage scheduling and allocation procedures for Fort Hood ranges, training areas, training facilities and airspace. Maintain and provide technical data regarding utilization of facilities. Provide training resource assistance to units, the Army National Guard, U.S. Army Reserve, and off post active duty units to support training and testing activities and various civilian activities, i.e., contractors, agricultural lessees. Assist Range Operations Assistants in monitoring range operations for compliance with correct scheduling procedures. Serve as Range Division mobilization planner.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain certifications per Department of Defense directive 8570.1-M, AR 25-2, and as detailed in the Information Assurance training and certification Best Business Practice within six months of appointment.
  • Position periodically works weekends or other than normal duty hours to support mobilization training requirements.
  • Position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.

OR Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Safety Management, Occupational Health, or Civil Engineering. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: OperationsOral CommunicationProblem SolvingTechnical Competence Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-07).
