About the Position: The Supervisory Interdisciplinary position may be filled under any of the listed Job Family Series. Chief Flood and Storm Protection Division with Coastal and Hydraulics Laboratory.

Duties

Responsible for executing the research and development mission of the Flood and Storm Protection Division, including ensuring technical quality of the research. Working within time and budget constraints and providing the short- and long-term resources for research executed in the Division. Conduct research in the areas of computational hydrologic systems, watershed hydraulics and sedimentation, a wide variety of hydraulic structures concerning water quality issues. Exercises the highest level of technical review within the ERDC and the Corps of Engineers. Interpretation and application of research results, demonstrating a high level of technical and professional competence to continually develop and execute new technology research. Approves multi-year and longer-range work plans developed by the subordinate supervisors and manages the overall work for achievement of the goals and objectives. Responsible for obtaining funding and assuring satisfaction of project or program requirements to sponsoring officials. Plans and participates in recruitment activities to include interviewing and selecting candidates for employment. Assists employees in preparing career plans; determines and provides necessary on- and/or off-the-job training; establishes performance requirements; and makes career and other performance appraisals Responsible for overall direction of project undertakings from initial to final stages.
