This position is located at Treasury Office of the Inspector General, Office of Management. As an IT Specialist (SYSADMIN/INFOSEC), you will be serving as a systems administrator responsible for installing, configuring, managing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and resolving end-user issues. The incumbent implements, manages, and monitors identity, governance, storage, compute, and virtual networks in a cloud environment.
Duties
The following are the duties of this position at the GS-13. If you are selected at a lower grade level, you will have the opportunity to learn to perform all these duties, and will receive training to help you grow in this position.
Plan, coordinate, and implement software version changes to enhance OIG IT systems and networks to meet current and future business requirements. Monitor and manage configuration changes in the enterprise architecture to extend, enhance, or optimize key functions.
Participate in, or manage, plan for IT projects involving significant changes to the systems environment, e.g., transition to cloud computing. Analyze current environment and requirements.
Maintain and update related databases and web servers. Use diagnostic tools to determine sources of malfunctions in software or hardware servers and takes action to correct problems.
Provide technical advice on security aspects of systems design to ensure implementation of appropriate systems' security applications and policies. Diagnosis complex and critical IT issues related to security of the systems.
Provide guidance and technical assistance to Help Desk staff. Serve as a tier 3 technical support resource for users; prepare written guidance for users and for other systems administrators on the VPN, including establishing user accounts and passcodes, and secure use of thumb drives.

The experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or volunteer service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis. Specialized Experience: For the GS-12, you must have one year of specialized experience (52 weeks) at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position is defined as:
* Experience maintaining, repairing, and updating complex information technology systems on a regular and recurring basis.
Specialized Experience: For the GS-13, you must have one year of specialized experience (52 weeks) at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position is defined as:
* Experience as a database administrator or system administrator responsible for implementing and supporting database management systems (DBMS) or other software that monitors, scans, and patches in enterprise scale IT infrastructure; AND
* Experience planning, implementing, and maintaining complex information technology systems on a regular and recurring basis.
In addition to specialized experience, individuals must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below.1.
