This position serves as the Program Support Assistant (OA) to the Section Chief of HUD VASH within the Social Work Service.

Duties

Duties include but are not limited to : Accepts and supports the guiding principles of the Social Work Service and the Medical Center. Ensures all objectives and deadline are met. Performs assigned duties in a manner that promotes quality health care, outstanding customer service and the maintenance of an environment committed to serving the Veteran. Actively supports the team concept and functions as a team player. Individual will provide support for the Social Work Service within the HUD VASH Section, insuring accurate and timely reporting data on clinical care delivery, resource planning in the form of space, equipment and supplies, resource allocation and expenditures within the Service, and in coordination with the AO, maintenance of the Service's clinicians' credentialing and privileging. Participates in management and administrative review of essential services and concerns. Answers and responds to personal and telephone inquiries relating to administrative issues and monitors progress on all Service deadlines Work Schedule: 7am-3:30pm Position Description Title/PD#: Program Support Assistant (OA)/PD291000 Physical Requirements: The work is primarily sedentary but also requires some standing, walking, bending, lifting and carrying of light items. The work requires above average agility and dexterity. The incumbent may be called upon to drive a government vehicle.

Qualifications

To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement. Proficiency Requirements: Must be able to type 40 WPM GS-05 grade level: One year of specialized experience (equivalent to the GS-05 grade level in the federal service); experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities (KSA's) and other characteristics to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled, in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Specialized experience includes: performing standard clerical assignments by gathering data used to develop reports, reviewing documents for proper grammar, spelling and punctuation, and operating computer hardware and software (such as: MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook, or SharePoint). Examples of specialized experience include: Collect, compile, and track data and statistical information independently from existing data bases in order to provide comprehensive support; coordinate incoming data from a variety of sources, reviews documents, reports, and/or applications or omissions and inconsistencies, and ensures data entry is complete and accurate; develops and manages applicable facility contracts; reviews and distributes incoming mail, manages suspense's, prepares outgoing mail and prepares office correspondence; answers phones, responds to information inquires and takes messages, receives visitors and directs them to appropriate staff, and maintains filing systems. OR, Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have successfully completed 4 years above high school level education in any field (TRANSCRIPTS REQUIRED) OR, Applicants may also combine education and experience to qualify at the GS-05 level. Applicants may also combine education and experience to qualify at this level. You must have an combination of specialized experience and education in any field for which high school graduation or the equivalent is the normal prerequisite is creditable at grades GS-3 through GS-5. Only education in excess of the first 60 semester hours (i.e., beyond the second year) is creditable toward meeting the specialized experience requirement. One full academic year of study (30 semester hours) beyond the second year is equivalent to 6 months of specialized experience. (TRANSCRIPTS REQUIRED) Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religions; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Participation in the seasonal influenza program is a requirement for all Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Personnel (HCP). It is a requirement that all HCP to receive annual seasonal influenza vaccination or obtain an exemption for medical or religious reasons. Wearing a face mask is required when an exemption to the influenza vaccination has been granted. HCP in violation of this directive may face disciplinary action up to and including removal from federal service. HCP are individuals who, during the influenza season, work in VHA locations or who come into contact with VA patients or other HCP as part of their duties. VHA locations include, but are not limited to, VA hospitals and associated clinics, community living centers (CLCs), community-based outpatient clinics (CBOCs), domiciliary units, Vet centers and VA-leased medical facilities. HCP include all VA licensed and unlicensed, clinical and administrative, remote and onsite, paid and without compensation, full- and part-time employees, intermittent employees, fee basis employees, VA contractors, researchers, volunteers and health professions trainees (HPTs) who are expected to perform any or all of their work at these facilities. HPTs may be paid or unpaid and include residents, interns, fellows and students. HCP also includes VHA personnel providing home-based care to Veterans and drivers and other personnel whose duties put them in contact with patients outside VA medical facilities.Participation in the seasonal influenza program is a requirement for all Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Personnel (HCP).
