The position functions in a model with three core elements (Pathway, Well-Being, Clinical Care), seeking to create a personalized health plan for each Veteran. The core elements of the Whole Health System include empowering Veterans to identify their personal health and well-being goals, equipping them with self-care strategies and skills, including complementary and integrative health approaches, and creating shared goals with care teams.
Duties
Establishes guidelines and performance expectations for Coaches.
Observes workers' performance, identifying the training needs of staff and provides development opportunities for these staff.
supervises Whole Health Coaches and holds them responsible for the performance of their areas and ensures that staff is functioning within their scope of practice. Assures that subordinates are trained and fully comply with the provisions of all safety regulations.
Responsible for interviewing candidates, and recommending appointment or reassignment of positions, making decisions on personnel actions including selections, promotions, reassignments, retention, and recommendations for adverse actions pertaining to employee performance or conduct. Reviews attendance records of employees to ensure a balanced workforce and to maintain or improve attendance. Reviews and approves or disapproves leave requests for staff.
Completes evaluations of subordinates. Recommends approval for incentive awards and rewards employees for good performance. Works to resolve staff complaints and grievances. Develops work improvement plans, recommending personnel actions as necessary; invokes disciplinary measures as appropriate to the authority delegated in this area.
Serves as primary POC for Veterans who would like to register for well-being services, to include Introduction to Whole Health, Taking Charge of My Life and Health, and other well-being groups (yoga, tai chi, etc.).
Connects interested Veterans to Whole Health Coaches and responds to provider referrals across the organization for coaching services.
Collaborates with Whole Health Director in creating the infrastructure for in-person, telemedicine, or phone Whole Health Coaching services that will be utilized by coaches.
Supports well-being and Coaching program facilitators by providing printed participant manuals, equipment, and other resources needed to conduct group and individual sessions.
Provides assistance to Whole Health Director in development of WHS messages and develops training and support materials for staff educational needs.
Develops and implements procedures to ensure the structural and process requirements, stipulated by VACO, for Whole Health Coaching program are satisfied.
Provides leadership, guidance, and technical assistance to ensure all activities of Whole Health Coaches at all sites in the Miami VAHCS are closely coordinated to ensure effective integration of the Whole Health Services activities.
Serves on the Whole Health strategic planning committee and oversees strategic plan, goal setting, and monitoring and evaluation of facility outcomes as related specifically to Whole Health Coaching program.
Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 11/28/2023.
Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-11 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-09. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. Degree: behavioral or social science; or related disciplines appropriate to the position.

Combination of education and experience that provided the applicant with knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.

Four years of appropriate experience that demonstrated that the applicant has acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.
In addition to the IOR, you may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below:
Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade (GS-09) in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: observing workers' performance, identifying the training needs of staff and providing development opportunities; interviewing candidates, and recommending appointment; reviewing and approving or disapproving leave requests for staff; connecting Veterans to internal and community resources; assisting in development of new targeted self-management group offerings; collaborating to create the infrastructure for in-person, telemedicine, or telephonic services; providing leadership, guidance, and technical assistance to ensure activities are closely coordinated to ensure effective integration of activities; overseeing strategic planning, goal setting, and monitoring and evaluation of facility outcomes.
