Duties

You will be responsible for processing current deaths of service members and their dependents, Department of the Army Civilians (DACs), active-duty National Guard and Army Reservists. You will process disposition cases, research and coordinates with appropriate offices (within and outside the organization) to obtain information about the death so that processing may begin. You will serve as the contracting officer representative (COR) for the Army requirements contract for mortuary services in the Area of Responsibility (AOR). You will ensure the armed services specifications for mortuary services are included in the contract performance work statement for inclusion in the contract. You will brief and provide information to the Next of Kin regarding entitlements involving the removal, preparation, transportation, and interment of remains.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Performs 24-hour casualty assistance duties and must be immediately available to respond.
  • Employee will be required to work irregular tours of duty to include nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Employee must maintain training in applicable policies, techniques, tactics, and procedures.
  • This is a Mission Essential position.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1. serving as a liaison between hospitals, funeral homes, personnel and family members to plan ceremonies; 2. Apply policies and procedures related to casualty affairs and military funeral honors; 3. Ensure the accuracy of casualty information through personnel management, records research and inquiries. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07). OR Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Attention to DetailManages and Organizes InformationOral CommunicationTechnical Competence Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-07).
