About the Position: This position is located at Headquarters, Training and Doctrine Command, DCS G-3/5/7, Training, Security Assistance Training Field Activity, Fort Eustis, VA. Fort Eustis, Virginia is located in Newport News, between historic Williamsburg and Virginia Beach. Local Transportation via the Hampton Roads Transit (HRT) bus service to the surrounding area which includes Hampton, Norfolk, Portsmouth, Chesapeake and Virginia Beach, York County, Gloucester, Suffolk, and Smithfield.
Duties
Works under broad supervision of the Director, Security Assistance Training Field Activity, Deputy Chief of Staff – G-3/5/7, HQ TRADOC who, through mutual consultation, provides policy guidance on mission execution.
Serves as a Deputy to the Security Assistance Training Field Activity (SATFA) Director and key security assistance education and training and US Army training and education system advisor to the G-3/5/7 and HQ TRADOC.
Exercises wide latitude in applying originality, insight, and creativity in the development of plans and policies for all facets of directorate functions.
Assists the director in the management of definitive plans and strategies for the management and integration of programs, projects, actions and activities that have significant impact on the Security Assistance Training Program.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret security clearance.
- This is a Drug Testing designated position.
- This position involves 25% or more TDY. Approximately 10% is OCONUS
- Incumbent is required to annually submit a Financial Disclosure Statement OGE-450.
- Incumbent will be required to complete Security Cooperation Workforce Development Intermediate Certification within three years of being employed with SATFA.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: ) providing oversight to an organization's day-to-day mission workload such as long-range activities, plans and programs; 2) overseeing the all aspects of training solutions for Security Assistance programs such as Foreign Military Sales and International Military Education and Training (IMET) program; 3) coordinating Security Assistance tasking requirements within an organization to ensure actions are completed in accordance with U.S. law and DoD policy; and 4) directing daily operations and directorate staff within an organization. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-13).
