This position is located at Departmental Offices,Management CFO- Info Systems and CIO. As a/an Information Technology Specialist (INFOSEC), you will be provide technical advice on the design, development, and implementation of information security policies and procedures and conduct risk assessments to identify areas of potential vulnerability in operating systems used throughout the organization. .

Duties

The following are the duties of this position at the GS-12. If you are selected at a lower grade level, you will have the opportunity to learn to perform all these duties, and will receive training to help you grow in this position. Evaluate the effectiveness of existing programs. Prioritize and schedule areas to be evaluated and develop assessment criteria. Analyze findings and develop and present recommendations to higher level IT Specialists on methods to prevent security incidents and ensure systems reliability. Identify new processes, techniques, and procedures to upgrade and enhance security protocols. Consult with other IT Specialists to make recommendations on strategies and policies that govern implementation of security and reliability procedures throughout the organization.

You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement. GS-12 SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE STATEMENT: You must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position is defined as proven proficiency and supportable (as evidenced in the resume) hands-on experience in ALL of the following: Presenting technical and non-technical information to peers, managers, and executives and working collaboratively across large enterprises or industry sectors; AND Demonstrated prior experience providing cyber security support, such as risk benefit analysis of information technology security; AND Providing solutions and problem resolution to customers, with a strong sense of commitment and drive towards customer service; AND Consulting with other IT Specialists to make recommendations on strategies and policies that govern implementation of security and reliability procedures throughout the organization. GS-11 SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE STATEMENT: You must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-09 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position is defined as proven proficiency and supportable (as evidenced in the resume) hands-on experience in ALL of the following: Evaluating existing processes and identifying more efficient ways to accomplish goals and meet customer and client requirements, continuously improving the processes through regular assessment and adjustment; AND Working as a member of an IT project team; AND Communicating technical and non-technical information to a mixture of audiences (including executives, senior official and management teams) demonstrated by excellent written and oral communications and skills. OR -- You may qualify with a Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M. if related. GS-09 SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE STATEMENT: You must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position is defined as proven proficiency and supportable (as evidenced in the resume) hands-on experience includes ALL of the following: Evaluating existing processes and identifying more efficient ways to accomplish goals and meet customer and client requirements, continuously improving the processes through regular assessment and adjustment; AND Working as a member of an IT project team; AND Providing personal responsibility for at least a segment of an overall project. OR -- You may qualify with a Masters or equivalent degree in a field related to this position or two full years of progressively higher education leading to such a degree. In addition to specialized experience, individuals must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below. Attention to Detail: Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. Customer Service: Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services. Oral Communication: Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately. Problem Solving: Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.

Education

If qualifying with education, the education generally must be from an accredited (or pre-accredited) college or university recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. If you are qualifying based on foreign education, you must submit proof of creditability of education as evaluated by a credentialing agency. Refer to the OPM instructions.
