The United States Attorney's Office for the District of Maryland's (USAO-MD) mission is to enforce and defend the laws of the United States of America through the prosecution of criminal cases brought by the Federal government; the prosecution and defense of civil cases in which the United States is a party; and the collection of debts owed to the Federal government that are administratively uncollectible.

Duties

If selected for this position, you will join a well-respected team that is responsible for providing Supervisory Victim/Witness Specialist support in the U.S. Attorney's Office, District of Maryland, located in Baltimore, Maryland, focusing in the areas of victim and witness assistance. The incumbent will serve as Supervisor of the United States Attorney's Office (USAO) Victim/Assistance Program. Provides training to management, staff, and Assistant United States Attorneys (AUSAs) within the District of Maryland to ensure compliance with federal law and policies concerning federal crime victims. Develops and implements specific program protocols and operating procedures within the District to ensure compliance with federal victim laws and Departmental guidelines. Typical work assignments will include: Providing authoritative advice to District USAO Management and act as the point person for victim matters with the District. Designing, developing, and directing the dissemination of information pertinent to the numerous victim protection laws, the Department of Justice policy and programs concerning victim related matters, to include any relevant victim services. Planning, directing, performing, and supervising, victim assistance program operations within the District. Developing a network with federal, state, and local victim service providers to increase resources and services to better serve federal crime victims. Serving as a liaison between the U.S. Attorney and local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies on victim matters.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: To be considered minimally qualified for this position, you must demonstrate that you have the required specialized experience for the respective grade level in which you are applying: To qualify at the GS-12 level, you must possess: Specialized Experience: At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level in the Federal service performing (obtained in either the public or private sectors) the duties listed below: Obtaining services and assistance for victims through federal programs and funds such as the Federal Crime Victim Assistance Fund, the Trafficking Victims Protection Act and others; Coordinating efforts with investigative agencies, prosecutors and attorney's on victim cases; Providing in-court support during and prior to hearing and trials, which may include providing courtroom tours prior to testimony, opportunities for victims to consult with AUSAs prosecuting the cases, and/or information regarding the different methods for providing Victim Impact Statements. TIME-IN-GRADE REQUIREMENTS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-11is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-12 level. You must submit your SF-50 that shows Time-in-Grade eligibility and reflects your title, series, and grade. No award SF-50 will be accepted; recommended SF-50s include promotions and step increases (within grade increases).
