You will serve as a Financial Technician in the Resources and Budget Department (N4), Naval Oceanographic Office of NAVOCEANO BAY ST LOUIS.
Duties
You will verify, maintain and reconcile accounts and accounting data to include travel transactions.
You will review travel documents to ensure compliance with applicable regulations and local instructions.
You will examine documents for accuracy, adequacy of documentation, compliance with regulation.
You will answer requests and provide advice to employees, supervisors, and staff in other travel related rules, regulations and procedures.

- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- This is a Financial Management Level One certified position per the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) 2012, Section 1599d. You must achieve this level within prescribed timelines. Certification requirements are in DoD Instruction 1300.26.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-05 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
1. Experience performing account maintenance and accounting support work requiring a basic understanding of accounting systems, policies and procedures.
2. Experience receiving, reviewing and/or processing a wide-range range of documents for accuracy, adequacy, and compliance of regulations for goods, services, and/or travel orders/vouchers.
3. Experience computing cost estimates/analysis for travel, per diem, and travel advances in accordance with Travel Regulations, Local TravelPolicy/Business Rules and Financial Management Regulations.
4. Experience receiving, reviewing, and processing (computing cost estimates) a wide range of travel orders and vouchers for accuracy and completeness in accordance with travel regulations and local policy.
5. Experience performing technician work in support of budget analysis and administration such as maintain ledgers, budget formulation, compiling,consolidating, checking and arranging funding data.
6. Experience providing customer service in response to both telephonic, in person and e-mail/written inquiries related to travel claims.
7. Experience researching and analyzing financial reports and data files and providing assistance in interpreting and evaluating financial and accounting data.
8. Experience preparing and updating Standard Operating Procedures (SOP)/Training Briefs/Command Instructions.
