Duties

You will assist air conditioning mechanics by performing simpler and more routine duties of the air conditioning trade, working with journey level mechanics, as instructed. You will prepare the work site, gather necessary tools and equipment, secure tools upon completion of tasks, and clean up work site after completion of assignment. You will use and account for all tools and equipment, such as special bending, flaring, and coupling tools; acetylene torches; refrigeration gauges; electronic leak detectors; vacuum pumps; and hydraulic presses. You will, under the instructions of a journey level mechanic, prepare a record of actions taken on work orders, preventive maintenance schedules, and other written instructions, obtaining required coordination and signatures. You will requisition replacement parts, materials, and supplies; receive supplies and equipment, validate stock numbers, quantity, and nomenclature; and notify supervisors in the event of a discrepancy between items ordered and items delivered. You will store supplies and equipment in proper bin or rack according to nomenclature, size, and available space.

• You will be required to possess and maintain a current valid state or U.S. Territory driver’s license.
• You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
• You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. This position requires Non-Sensitive security clearance.
• Employee must obtain respirator certification within six months of employment.
• Must obtain and maintain an EPA Universal certification within six months of employment, and an annual Electrical Code refresher.
