The Supervisory, Medical Administrative Program Specialist is a staff member or the Health Information Management Section (HIMS) of Health Administration Service (HAS). The incumbent has many operational managerial/supervisory duties and responsibilities within the service.
Duties
Prepares all recurring monthly reports, compiles and analyzes data and gathers information for such reports for submission to the Chief.
Retrieve, track, and trend information needed for analysis and reporting.
Responsible for leave administration, incentive awards programs, motivation and morale, administrative disciplinary actions, recruitment, and placement, position management and classification, preparing position descriptions, counseling employees whose performance is marginal or unsatisfactory and implementing continuing education activities.
Meets with families on specific issues and designs methods of monitoring feedback and patient satisfaction within functions of their responsibility.
Develops and author written response to inquiries submitted by members of Congress and veterans.
investigates, analyzes, reviews, and prepares replies to inquiries received from
veterans or their representatives to resolve misunderstandings or conflicts.
Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, Tour of Duty is 3:30 pm to Midnight. Weekends and Holidays may also be required.

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 11/24/2023.
Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-09 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-07. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment.
You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below:
Specialized experience: Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: provide administrative support to the Medical Officer of the Day and all other clerical staff concerning administrative matters necessary for the operation of the medical center. Interpreting rules and regulations to determine legal entitlement to benefits associated with hospital admission, nursing home care, dental treatment. domiciliary, fee basis, outpatient care, prosthetic appliances, patient transfers, and beneficiary travel. Receiving and responding to non-routine patient condition inquiries and other administrative inquiries from veterans, families, visitors, law enforcement officials, VA Central Office, Congressional Offices, military personnel, private physicians, and others.

To qualify based on education for this grade level you must a Master's or equivalent graduate degree; or I have two (2) full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree. (Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work).

Physical Requirements: The work is primarily performed in an office area which is adequately lighted. heated. and ventilated. The work environment involves everyday risks or discomforts that require normal safety precautions.
