This position is located at the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), United States Coast Guard (USCG), Deputy Commandant for Mission Support, Office of Mission Support Integration, Washington, DC. This position may be filled through means other than the competitive promotion process. Duties

You will evaluate the productivity, effectiveness, and efficiency of program operations, resolve deficiencies and improve the performance of enterprise-wide systems, processes, and operations. Being a CG civilian makes you a valuable member of the CG team. Typical work assignments include:

  • Time-in-grade requirements must be met by closing date.
  • A one year probationary period maybe required.
  • Suitable for Federal employment determined by background investigation.

Qualifications

Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work. GS-13 - You qualify if you possess one year of specialized experience, equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal, State, or Local government or equivalent public or private sector experience. Specialized experience must include: Analyzing and evaluating the effectiveness of program operations; developing analytical and investigative techniques to perform a wide variety of studies; advising on the potential benefits/use of automation to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of program operations; researching and investigating new or improved business and management practices for application to agency programs or operations; preparing and presenting oral and written reports and briefings; coordinating program needs and maintaining effective communications; serving on chair workgroups and leading or participating in committees and working groups involving contact with senior leaders and staff. Education cannot be substituted for experience at this grade level. National Service Experience (i.e., volunteer experience): Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. The Office of Personnel management (OPM) must authorize employment offers made to current or former political appointees. If you are currently, or have been within the last 5 years, a political Schedule A, Schedule, C, Non-career SES or Presidential Appointee employee in the Executive Branch, you must disclose this information to the Human Resources Office.
