About the Position: Position is located at United States Southern Command Exercises and Coalition Affairs Directorate Training and Exercises Division.
This is a TERM position NTE 5 years.
Duties
Support joint concept and joint warfighting doctrinal development.
Align the combatant command’s Joint Training Plan with Joint Staff and Combatant Commander priorities and guidance.
Coordinate updates to Department of Defense joint doctrine publications.
Implement updates to the Combatant Command’s Joint Mission Essential Task List (JMETL).
Author revisions to the annual Combatant Commander’s Training Guidance.
Support organizational training assessments, wargaming efforts, and collection of lessons learned.
Maintain training and readiness requirements for Service Component Joint Task Forces.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 10% of the time.
- This is a drug testing position. This position is subject to a pre-employment screening, and random testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Top Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
- Army employees who accept a time-limited appointment (to include employees with personal competitive status) will be separated at the end of the time-limited appointment date if the Not-to-Exceed (NTE) date is not extended.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience.
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) Experience updating and revising joint doctrine 2) Experience leading complex projects and briefing senior leaders in collaborative sessions AND 3) Experience with joint warfighting functions. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade level in the federal service (GS12) grade level.
