About the Position: Serves as the Antiterrorism Specialist and advisor to the District Commander and staff on all Antiterrorism/Force Protection related information. Addresses all matters related to and involves Force Protection (FP) and Antiterrorism (AT) requirements, regulations, policy, procedures, program status and serves as the liaison for information between the intelligence community and all local state and federal law enforcement that operates within the Detroit District's AOR.
Duties
Conducts intelligence integration and information operations to assess potential threat and creates the District’s involves (Force Protection (FP) and Antiterrorism (AT)), FP/AT program.
Writes comprehensive antiterrorism plans.
Reviews practices and activities to ensure compliance with directives and integration with other security and related programs.
Provides recommendations, briefings, updates, across a broad range of security specialties.
Responsible for maintaining the Lakes and Rivers Division (LRD)’s Security SharePoint and Security Management webpage uploading force protection related documents and information materials.
Provide Force Protection-related assistance to other subordinate commands through the Threat Working Group meetings.
Conducts Assessments and Surveys.
Monitors policies and procedures for handling and safeguarding classified material in the District.
Prepares all necessary reports on security matters, making recommendations.
Assists in the development of, District policies and procedures for the protection of assets against assessed threats,
Performs annual physical security inspections and surveys,
Analyzes information from reports and investigations to anticipate, prevent and monitor actual or possible criminal activities.
Works as part of the in processing team for new employees by taking finger prints and other required information.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Incumbent is required to sign a DA Form 5019-R, Condition of Employment for certain civilian positions identified as critical under the Drug Abuse Testing Program.

For GS-09:
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes awareness of matters in Antiterrorism, Force Protection and physical security concepts, policies, standards, and procedures; interpret, implement, and disseminate agency security initiatives. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).
OR
Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages.
For GS-11:
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes awareness of matters in Antiterrorism, Force Protection and physical security concepts, policies, standards, and procedures; assisting in providing technical assistance to managers, employees, and coworkers to ensure security measures are met and to resolve security issues. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09).
OR
Education: PhD or equivalent degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Security Management, Physical Security and Criminal Justice, Police Science, and Administration.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages.
