These positions for the Beneficiary Travel Program within the Health Administration Service (HAS) of the VA Texas Valley Coastal Bend Health Care System in Laredo and Corpus Christi, TX. Duty Locations: Laredo VA Clinic, 4602 North Bartlett Avenue, Laredo, TX 78041 Corpus Christi VA Clinic, 5283 Old Brownsville Road, Corpus Christi, TX 78405 Laredo salary: $39,035 - $50,751 Corpus Christi salary: $37,890 - $49,262

Duties

***THIS IS NOT A VIRTUAL POSITION, YOU MUST LIVE WITHIN OR BE WILLING TO RELOCATE WITHIN A COMMUTABLE DISTANCE OF THE DUTY LOCATION*** Major duties: Determines eligibility for Beneficiary Travel benefits to include applications of any deductibles, processing denials for ineligible claims, and forwarding travel vouchers to Fiscal Service for processing. Reviews and approves special mode consults utilizing local tools and other software programs. Arranges all modes transportation via air ambulance, commercial air, taxi, ambulance, bus, and/or independent transports. Corresponds with physician, traveler, and vendor to determine the most dependable and economical mode of transportation. Prepares appropriate documentation and/or scheduling for traveler according to government rates or substantial rates. Secures reservations and tickets from carriers. Maintains communications with receiving facilities regarding beneficiaries return travel arrangements. Reviews requests for reimbursement of travel costs for the purpose of assuring compliance with regulations and procedures, completeness, accuracy, internal consistency, and agreement with basic authorization. Acts as liaison between vendors and service for travel vouchers pending payment. Prepares reports, conducts audits, and analyzes of fund control point(s) activity. Notifies approving official(s) to authorize obligations and requests for additions, deductions, and/or movement of funds. Maintains and controls filing system. Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications

In order to qualify for this position, applicants must possess at least ONE of the following minimum qualifications: SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Possess at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (GS-04) in the Federal Service, that is directly related to the work of the position and has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties as a Transportation Assistant - Beneficiary Travel Assistant. Qualifying specialized experience includes applying transportation regulations and practices to perform a wide variety of administrative support; coordinating travel arrangements; maintaining records, utilizing databases, reconciling records and generating reports; investigating/resolving issues and taking corrective actions; and communicating effectively with a wide variety of individuals. OR EDUCATION SUBSTITUTION: Successfully completed 4 years above high school in any field for which high school graduation or the equivalent is the normal prerequisite. Transcripts must be submitted at time of application. OR COMBINATION: Possess equivalent combination of successfully completed post-high school education in excess of the first 60 semester hours (beyond the second year) and specialized experience as described above, which meet the total experience requirements for this grade level. You will be rated on the following Competencies as part of the assessment questionnaire for this position: AuditingClericalCustomer ServiceData Management IMPORTANT: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. All experience listed on your resume must include the month and year start/end dates. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Physical Requirements: Work generates a great deal of stress because of the high volume of work, need for accuracy, the frequency of interruptions, and the ever changing demands due to program changes.
