About the Position: A practical knowledge of laws, regulations, directives, policies and procedures governing HIPAA compliance to Advise clinic personnel of appropriate procedures and process of releasing medical information and respond to reported privacy violation complaints or concerns. Employee will be located on 2nd floor, Patient Administration Division, Tour of Duty 0730-1630, 40 hours a week
Duties
Responds to Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) complaints of alleged privacy violations.
Performs random system audits to ensure Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) compliance.
Advises hospital personnel of appropriate procedures for releasing information.
Performs compliance activities in accordance with applicable directives and procedures.
Ensures annual refresher privacy training is conducted.
Retrieves training status reports from the database to monitor training status.
Prepares reports that identify causative situations and recommends corrective action.
Researches and compiles statistical data to generate a variety of reports.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation. This position requires a National Agency Check w/ Inquiries (NACI) background check.
- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 5% of the time.
- This position may be eligible for Situational/Ad-HOC Telework.
- This position may require the incumbent to work on call during irregular work hours which may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and/or varying work schedules.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service which includes experience advising on the appropriate processes and procedures governing Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) compliance activities and applying quality/performance improvement measurement techniques sufficient to analyze problems and formulate corrective actions; experience with all aspects of training, such as; overseeing, directing, delivering, and monitoring.

Education: Successful completion of a master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the work of the position, such as Business Administration, Healthcare Management or Hospital Administration.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of by 60. Add the two percentages.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-07).
