The primary purpose of this position is to serve as a course director and instructor for Air Force Manpower, Personnel and Services (AF/Al) courses, to develop courses in the Force Support leadership development arena or in other as-needed projects topics as identified by Air Staff.
Duties
Plan, develop, instruct, and evaluate courses in the assigned Force Support leadership development area.
Instruct and/or prepare guest faculty to teach assigned courses, which includes familiarization with course materials and a thorough understanding of course content, objectives, and teaching methodologies.
As a recognized expert in the services portion of the force support career field, develops and maintains professional contacts with a variety of levels and organizational elements--MAJCOMs, FOAs, Air Staff, DoD, OPM, and other government agencies.
Work closely with Air Force policy representatives on critical, short-notice education/training needs to meet one-time requirements. Upon request, may develop courses to satisfy specialized situations.
Upon local initiation, in collaboration with Air Staff or DoD Al functions, or in affiliation with other organizations, participate in projects as a subject matter expert to identify education needs, both short- and long-term.

- This position requires demonstrated skill in oral and written communications
- This position requires work outside normal duty hours, including attendance at student social functions, hosting guest speakers, and being available as needed to work with students on special projects.
- Travel by commercial and military aircraft may be required for work/TDY
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance.

Qualifications
In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Position.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-11, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes (1) knowledge of the FSS career field with emphasis in the Al functional areas including Manpower, Personnel and/or Services, specifically the business operations areas of legacy MWR or Services and the associated distinctions between Category B and C funds, cost of goods and cost of labor analysis, associated with the training assignments, to include awareness of policy, legislative and technological changes or new developments; (2) knowledge of training methods, techniques and tools in order to design, develop, maintain, and conduct complete courses and to arrange and moderate seminars and conferences, to include giving lectures and participating in the panel discussions; (3) knowledge of current policies and procedures for other installation functional specialties sufficient to integrate those policies and procedures into the Services & MWR management curriculum, including knowledge of the military command structure, missions, programs, and organizational relationships.
FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-11 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-12 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
1. Expert, professional knowledge of Al functional areas, specifically the business operations areas of legacy MW or Services (i.e., golf course, officers' club, Bowling Center, Arts & Crafts, Community Center, etc.) and the associated distinctions between Category B and C funds, cost of goods and cost of labor analysis, etc.
2. Ability to manage and direct the overall presentation of a course of instruction, either resident or non-resident. Ability to compile, assemble, construct and write educationally sound instructional materials and instructor guides for use in classroom instruction.
3. Ability to effectively instruct specialty materials in various educational mediums and developmental settings. Ability to work effectively and constructively with various groups in accomplishing assigned projects.
4. Ability to compose and deliver both written and oral presentations.
5. Ability to interpret and apply a variety of complex Al instructions and standards.
6. Ability to interpret and apply a number of complex and sometimes contradictory procedural guidelines.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
