The Supervisory Program Analyst (Informatics) serves as a Supervisory Program Analyst (Health Informatics) located at the medical centers, in the Veterans Health Administration of the Department of Veterans Affairs.
Duties
This position is responsible for management, assessment, design, integration, modification, maintenance, and analysis of programs and processes related to the field of health informatics with the goal of improving patient care, population health, reducing costs and waste, and improving the staff experience across VA. Duties include, but may not be limited to the following:
· Supervises a staff of Informatics employees to accomplish the work of the health informatics office.

Basic Requirements:

Grade Determinations GS-13: Mustpossess at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (GS-12) in the Federal Service, that is directly related to the work of the position and has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties as a Supervisory Program Analyst - Informatics. Qualifying specialized experience includes developing work schedules and approving time and leave. Evaluating workload, identifying resources needs, and preparing requests for the Resource Boards. Evaluating staff performance and recommending promotions and/or recognition awards. Drafting new or revised position descriptions for classification and developing appropriate performance standards. Assessing competency of the supervised individuals, providing training as needed and conducting performance evaluations. Monitoring performance and initiating counseling as appropriate. Mentoring and coaching supervisors and staff providing guidance with career development. Hearing and resolving complaints from employees and referring grievances and more serious unresolved issues to the Chief of Staff Office. Complying with Equal Employment Opportunity policies and program activities. Interviewing candidates for positions in Health Informatics, appointing or reassigning to such positions, and recommending promotions and/or changes in work based on workload statistics. Identifying developmental and training needs of employees, providing or arranging needed development and training. Finding ways to improve production or increase the quality of the work directed.
Preferred Experience: Supervisory experience and Informatics experience preferred.
The full performance level of this vacancy is GS13.
Physical Requirements: The work will involve standing, sitting, and walking. Travel to local institutions and to other facilities within the VISN as well as VA central office may be necessary on an occasional basis. Most activities will be performed at a computer terminal.
