The U.S. Attorney's Office is responsible for the prosecution of federal crimes in the Eastern District of Missouri, including crimes relating to terrorism, fraud, public corruption, firearms, narcotics, child exploitation and human trafficking. The office also defends the United States in civil cases and collects debts owed to the United States.

Duties
This vacancy is located in the St. Louis Office of the Eastern District of Missouri. AUSA assignments may include the investigation and prosecution of violent offenses, drug trafficking, public corruption, terrorism, white collar, and organized crime. Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex as your training and experience progress. This position may be promoted to a supervisory position.
Security Requirements: Initial appointment is conditioned upon a satisfactory preemployment adjudication. This includes fingerprint, credit and tax checks, and drug testing. In addition, continued employment is subject to a favorable adjudication of a background investigation.
Residency Requirements: Assistant United States Attorneys generally must reside in the district to which he or she is appointed or within 25 miles thereof. See 28 U.S.C. 545 for district-specific information.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
Applicants must also possess a J.D. degree, be an active member of the bar (any jurisdiction); and have at least one (1) year post J.D. legal or relevant experience. Applicant must possess superior oral and written communication skills, as well as strong character and interpersonal skills; have demonstrated the capacity to function, with minimal guidance, in a highly demanding environment.
Preferred Qualification:
Outstanding academic record; complex litigation experience involving white collar and/or public corruption; exceptional research and writing ability; the ability to successfully represent the interest of the united States in the federal court; the ability to handle and successfully manage a heavy case load involving complex cases; five or more jury trials.
