About the Position: Fort Drum, the home of the 10th Mountain Division (Light Infantry), is located in Northern New York, a historically unique and geographically beautiful area, offering bountiful outdoor recreational opportunities from hunting and fishing to winter sports of all types. Fort Drum is approximately 30 miles from Canada, with the Great Lakes to the west, the Adirondack Mountains to the east, and the St. Lawrence River and Thousand Islands in between.

Duties

Serves as an Electronics Technician by engaging in the application, support, control and operation of computer controlled automation equipment. Designs, updates, develops, and performs various calibration methods for controls and automation equipment and updates components as new technology demands. Utilizes the Trane Tracer Summit hardware and software applications to monitor, control, and commission utilities within the topology of Ethernet LAN Performs as project manager and/or Contracting Officer Representative (COR) on contracted UMCS and/or telemetry work. Represents as the project manager for the coordination and exchange of technical data relative to serviceability and operation of specialized equipment of mutual interest. Serves as consultant to Contracting Officer and higher command for the setup, operation, maintenance, and test procedures for electrical/electronic, hydraulic, pneumatic, computer controlled valves, positioners, and control.

Requirements

  • This position requires the incumbent to obtain and maintain a government driver's license.
  • This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
  • The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 5% of the time.

In addition to the selective placement factor above, you must also meet the experience requirements below: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) Maintaining, installing, troubleshooting and repairing Utility Monitoring and Control Systems (UMCS) utilizing schematic diagrams and a variety of test equipment; 2) Configuring Utility Monitoring and Control Systems (UMCS) by reading, adjusting, and writing vendor specific programming codes.. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-10). You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Attention to DetailElectronics EngineeringProblem SolvingTechnical Competence Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-10). For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
