About the Position: Fort Drum, the home of the 10th Mountain Division (Light Infantry), is located in Northern New York, a historically unique and geographically beautiful area, offering bountiful outdoor recreational opportunities from hunting and fishing to winter sports of all types. Fort Drum is approximately 30 miles from Canada, with the Great Lakes to the west, the Adirondack Mountains to the east, and the St. Lawrence River and Thousand Islands in between.
Duties
Provides training, to internal public works employees, in software, heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC)/utility monitoring and control system (UMCS) equipment and components, electronics, instrumentation, and work methods.
Improves HVAC system reliability, performance, and economy by recommending and implementing changes in mechanical, hardware, and software operations.
Designs and implements UMCS software flow control logic within vendor specific software programming packages.
Maintains Automated Test Equipment (ATE) systems comprised of major components such as computers, workstations, laptops, servers, supervisory and unit level controllers, programmable stimulus and measurement subsystems, memory storage devices, etc.

- This position requires the incumbent to obtain and maintain a government driver's license.
- This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
- The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 5% of the time.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) Maintaining, installing, troubleshooting and repairing Utility Monitoring and Control Systems (UMCS) utilizing schematic diagrams and a variety of test equipment; 2) Providing technical guidance to employees engaged in activities such as developing new test procedures, supporting research and development or in performing technical work pertaining to Utility Monitoring and Control Systems (UMCS); 3) Configuring Utility Monitoring and Control Systems (UMCS) by reading, adjusting, and writing vendor specific programming codes. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).
