The Anesthesiology Service line at the Malcom Randall VA Medical Center is recruiting for a Program Support Assistant (OA). This position provides administrative support to the Anesthesia Service staff to include: plans and executes monthly/yearly residents on-boarding; provides computer support duties and data management required to support physicians, clinics, and other support staff; compiles, analyzes, and properly presents data and information of a wide variety for the Anesthesia Service.
Duties
The Program Support Assistant provides administrative support to the Anesthesia service line staff. Duties include but are not limited to:
Plans and executes monthly/yearly residents on-boarding for the service.
Coordinates with multiple staff sections to complete all pre-employment requirements for residents and fellows prior to orientation.
Performs various administrative support duties such as word processing; creating spreadsheets; compiling, posting, making travel arrangements or recording information from a variety of sources; and data entry/retrieval.
Uses various software programs such as Excel, CPRS, VISTA, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, etc., to input and collect, compile and produce various reports and presentations.
Uses skill in oral/written communication to meet and deal with individuals at different organizational levels and backgrounds.
Plans, reviews, and reports data/statistical results of special programs, project studies, audits, internal reviews, etc.
Maintain service and personnel files and administrative records.
Procures and maintains an orderly and adequate level of program supplies and services.
Initiates and follows-up on work orders for the service.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 7:00am to 3:30pm

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 11/29/2023.
Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-07 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-06. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade.
Typing Requirement: This position has a typing requirement of 40 words per minute.
You may qualify based on your experience as described below:
GS-07 grade level: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-06 grade level in the federal service; experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities (KSA's) and other characteristics to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled, in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Specialized experience includes:

Physical Requirements: Work is primarily sedentary with frequent use of telephone, office equipment, and computer. The work requires daily physical exertion such as walking; standing; bending; reaching; lifting/carrying of light items such as supplies, papers, books, laptops, and other similar materials.
