You will serve as a PHYSICAL SECURITY SPECIALIST (ANTI-TERRORISM) in the PUBLIC SAFETY OFFICE at NSA ANNAPOLIS SECURITY DETACHMENT.

Duties

You will monitor personnel to verify security and administrative duties are performed. You will perform periodic reviews and inspections of contractor facilities and associated personnel records to assess protection against espionage and control of classified material. You will resolve problems regarding Anti-Terrorism Programs to eliminate potential threats against the Agency's mission. You will analyze data to develop reports that identify system vulnerability and actions taken to resolve the issues. You will suggest solutions to problems related to Loss Prevention.

Requirements

  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

  • Generally, current federal employees applying for GS jobs must serve at least one year at the next lower grade level. This requirement is called time-in-grade. Time-in-grade requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement.
  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States drivers license.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector: 1) Conducting protective and physical security surveys, crime trends and prevention studies, and statistical data analysis and reporting findings and making recommendations for the prevention of future occurrences to improve total system of security; and 2) Installing and making minor repairs of electronic security systems; 3) Maintaining and reviewing internal controls systems, identifying weaknesses and taking corrective actions and 4) Inspecting and monitoring guard and security systems contract compliance. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.

Education

Education may be substituted for Specialized Experience as follows:

Successful completion of a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree
or
Successful completion of three full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. or equivalent degree
or
Obtained an LL.M. degree that is related to the position being filled
or
A combination of experience and graduate education as described above that equates to one year of experience
