About the Position:
Red River Army Depot (RRAD) is located in northeast Texas, 19 miles west of Texarkana and approximately 170 miles northeast of Dallas. RRAD is near the corners of 4 states - Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma and Texas. The depot's enormous maintenance mission includes the repair, rebuild, overhaul and conversion of tactical wheeled vehicles. Duties
Oversee subordinate staff conducting water and air pressure check of radiator to detect leaks.
Oversee that tools or equipment are properly used.
Plan work assignments considering work- involved, availability of manpower and equipment deadlines, and other work projects for which responsible.
Determine the correct process required for different metals when welding or fabricating parts.
Demonstrate ways to dispose of hazardous materials such as antifreeze and flush materials caught during a flush in appropriate hazardous waste drums.
Use technical manuals to assist with determining the feasibility of repair/replacement of parts.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Must obtain and maintain a Personnel Background Investigation (NACI).
- Must be able to obtain and maintain appropriate security clearance for access to Depot Production Computer System.
- This position requires a successfully completion of the Civilian Education System Course and the Supervisory Development Course within 12 months in the position.
- This position is supervisory as defined by the Office of Personnel Management's (OPM) General Schedule Supervisory Guide (GSSG). A one-year probation to assess your ability to perform supervisory duties is required unless previously completed.
- Temporary promotion may be made or extended up to a maximum of five years and can be made permanent without further competition.
- Temporary appointment may be extended in one year increments up to a maximum of three years but cannot be made permanent.
- Time Limited Detail NTE may be made or extended at management discretion.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Metal Tank & Radiator Repair Supervisor without more than normal supervision. Perform common Metal Tank and Radiator Repair Supervisor duties, which demonstrates ability to perform a full range of specific Metal Tank and Radiator Repair Supervisor duties which include disassembling, replacing, modifying, assembling and testing a wide variety of water and oil radiators, aftercoolers and fuel tanks used on heavy mobile, tactical or general-purpose vehicles; utilizing an acetylene welding torch, and wire welders in order to weld, braze and solder vehicle parts; fabricate parts as needed in the repair of equipment of items such as gaskets, hangers, hoses and connections; test radiator and fuel tanks for compliance before release. I work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating.
