This position is part of the Plant Operations, Government Publishing Office in Washington,
District of Columbia.
Duties
Coordinating work efforts within the division
Providing technical assistance and guidance within the division
Performing data processing, utilization, and text processing operations
Participating with the Printing Officer to manage, coordinate, monitor, and provide special guidance to lower-graded print services specialists
Performing other duties as assigned
Requirements
- You must be a current Career or Career Conditional GPO employee to apply.
- Selectee must be able to complete a public trust background investigation.
- Selectee may be required to serve a one year probationary period.
- TIME-IN-GRADE REQUIREMENTS: Applicants must meet time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. Applicants must have served 1 year at the PG-12 or equivalent grade level of federal service to qualify.

Qualifications
To qualify for the Information Technology Specialist (APPSW), PG - 2210 - 13 , you must possess one (1) year of specialized experience at the PG-12 grade level in the Federal Service that includes:
Using software in the pre-press production environment and related systems
Performing software development and design as it relates to pre-press production
Expertise with database management systems and concepts, including validation processes, operating systems software, and printing data employed in the pre-press production process
Processes performed by printing and composition equipment/software
Your resume must describe experience that demonstrated accomplishment of computer project assignments that required a wide range of knowledge of computer requirements and techniques pertinent to the position to be filled. This knowledge is generally demonstrated by assignments where the applicant analyzed a number of alternative approaches in the process of advising management concerning major aspects of ADP system design, such as what system interrelationships must be considered, or what operating mode, system software, and/or equipment configuration is most appropriate for a given project.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
