  • This position is designated as a Cyber IT/Cybersecurity Workforce position. You must obtain and maintain the credentials as described in SECNAV M-5239.2 for specialty area 451 level within 12 months of appointment.

Qualifications

You are required to have information technology (IT) related experience in the federal service or private or public sector demonstrating the following four competencies, as defined: 1. Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include managing accounts, and access rights to systems and equipment. 2. Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services. IT related experience demonstrating this competency include responding to customer complaints associated with daily operational requirements. 3. Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, and responds appropriately. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include conveying written information in a clear, concise, and convincing manner. 4. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include diagnosing hardware and software problems and recommending immediate corrective action. In addition to my experience demonstrating the four competencies above, I have directly applicable experience that demonstrates the possession of knowledge, skills, abilities, and competencies necessary for immediate success in the position. Qualifying experience may have been acquired in any public or private sector job, but will clearly demonstrate past experience in the application of the particular competencies or knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to successfully perform the duties of the position. Such experience is typically in or directly relates to the work of the position to be filled. Qualifying experience would be demonstrated by maintaining configurations, analyzing parameters, and evaluating hardware, software, and service delivery options. This position is within the Work Category PROFESSIONAL at Work Level FULL PERFORMANCE, Series and Grade GG-2210-11. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. Major Duties: Incumbent will serve as the 1st Network Bn. SME for all MCEN-N and MCEN-S. Responsibilities include planning, coordinating installation, testing, operations, and trouble-shooting all hardware and software systems hosted at the 1st Network Bn. Provides Problem Management processes and methodologies for Local, Base, and Wide Area Networks (LAN/WAN). Conducts functional and connectivity testing to ensure operability of MCEN-N and MCEN-S services. Responsible for implementation of baseline systems security in accordance with all applicable orders, polices and directives. Maintains accounts and access to equipment and systems by providing optimization and support for restorations of services. Provides technical support for classified and unclassified network and end-user microcomputer software and hardware. Diagnoses hardware and software problems and recommends immediate corrective action or determines viable alternate solutions. Maintains configurations, analyzes parameters, and evaluates hardware, software, and service delivery options. Researches and recommends solutions in response to customer reported incidents, and resolves hardware/software interface and interoperability issues. Responds to customer complaints associated with daily operational requirements, poor connectivity, throughput problems, and service outages. Serves as technical expert in identifying, analyzing, diagnosing, and resolving a variety of system problems and conditions associated with servers, personal computers, peripheral equipment, and communication routes between various platforms. Maintains system functionality, integrity and efficiency. Reviews Helpdesk requests, trouble tickets, and system logs for trend analysis. Maintains system configurations and administers the installation and integration of system fixes and updates. Manages accounts, and access rights to systems and equipment. Responsible for carrying out tasks requiring the application of specific standards, measures, and procedures used in problem management methodologies. Uses project management methodologies and software to meet milestones and project completion deadlines for all Problem Management initiatives and processes determined as courses of action to improve customer services and eliminate failure points. Uses Remedy tools and metrics to map problem areas of concern, and uses data gathered to graphically illustrate findings for briefings to management. Performs other duties as assigned. The incumbent provides support and technical solutions for special projects as determined by the supervisor in support of regional IT goals and future concepts of operations. Provides oral and written reports, findings, and project status to management as directed.
