About the Position: Serves as a Health Technician in any of several areas of a Medical Treatment Facility such as the Primary Care Clinics, Wellness Clinics, Central Triage and Medical Screening, the Emergency Center, the Night Clinic, and Troop Medical Clinics. Performs nonprofessional nursing care, appointment clerical functions, and receptionist duties, record keeping tasks associated with patient care and treatment.

Duties
Obtain information from patient and/or family to identify major complaints, symptoms, or reason for seeking health care.
Take and record blood pressure, pulse, respirations, temperature, height and weight.
Document patient's chief complaints and other pertinent information in the health record.
Assist with the admission and discharge of patients and the maintenance of medical records.
Receive telephone calls, patients, and visitors to the medical facility.
Operate automated data processing equipment to input, store, revise, and print data related to appointments, care provider schedules, and templates.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Incumbent must obtain within 30 days of hire and maintain certification in Basic Life Support (BLS).
- Incumbent must be willing to periodically travel outside the installation (up to 5 percent of total duty time).
- This position requires a pre-employment physical examination.
- This position requires shift work to include night, evenings, holidays and weekends.
- This is an inclement weather position. The incumbent is expected to make every attempt to report for duty on time and/or remain on duty during inclement weather conditions.
- Position requires the ability to lift 40 lbs.
- This position is subject to a pre-employment screening, and random testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident.
Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes providing clerical support within a medical treatment facility (MTF) or clinic, scheduling medical appointments for patients, and screening, triaging, and taking vital signs for assigned patients. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-04).
OR
Education: Four year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree with a major study or at least 24 semester hours in subjects directly related to the position, such as Health Technician, Health Science, or Health Services.

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60. Add the two percentages.

FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
