Duties

Conduct risk and vulnerability assessments, detection and analysis to ensure compliance with the DHA and Army Information Assurance Vulnerability Alert Program. Assist the (ISSM) and Information Systems Security Officer (ISSO) in the management of related program areas, projects and actions (i.e. PKI, IAVA, incident handling, and HIPAA Security compliance). Coordinate and participate in project planning and execution phases as related to the security and design of systems and networks to ensure implementation of appropriate systems security policies. Serve as team leader or as a participant in command or agency risk analysis and security tests and evaluations.

Requirements

• This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
• This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is subject to annual vaccination.
• This position requires the incumbent to obtain the Information Assurance (IA) Level II training and be certified or recertified within six months of being assigned.

Basic Requirement for Information Technology Specialist (Information Security): Specialized and Other Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes supporting information technology (IT) systems and services by conducting risk and vulnerability assessments; monitoring Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) security measures such as configuration controls, audits, physical safeguards, vulnerability scans, systems security programs, policies, procedures, and tools. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09). The specialized experience must include, or be supplemented by, information technology related experience (paid or unpaid experience and/or completion of specific, intensive training, as appropriate) which demonstrates each of the four competencies, as defined: (1) Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. Examples of IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include completing work independently that rarely requires editing or review by others.
