Duties
Serve as a senior System Administrator with operational focus on the operations and maintenance of the clinical servers and automated support systems, capabilities of automatic data processing (ADP) equipment, and software.
Monitor the automated server systems to include troubleshooting, problem solving, upgrading, and debugging. Implementation of upgrades and change packages to the server systems, ensuring timely output consistent with regulatory requirements.
Load and maintain manufacturer-supplied software on multiple central processing unit (CPU) throughout the command.
Plan for and install original or new release of server operating systems (OS) software.
Analyze special hardware such as Storage Area Network (SAN), Network Access Storage (NAS), Backup Units, Firewall, hubs, switches, and all other equipment that has interface with the server Infostructure.
Work with functional representatives to identify work processes and technical requirements, ensuring that all customer conditions are met to produce a functional and desired information technology product.
Make system and/or program changes as required, to add additional data, delete obsolete data, and/or ensure computer system alignment with current functional requirements.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
- Moderate to heavy lifting up to 25 pounds is required.
- Must possess and maintain a valid stateside driver's license.
- Incumbent must meet certification requirements of DoD 8570.01-M within 6 months of employment.
- Information Assurance (IA) Level II certified or re-certified within six months of being assigned.
- One year trial/probationary period may be required.

In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes providing customer support on installing software/hardware on computers and/or servers; troubleshooting or repairing information technology systems and related components. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
