About the Position: Fort Eisenhower is in Augusta, Georgia, home of the Masters Golf Tournament and the Cyber Center. It is approximately 142 miles east of Atlanta, 80 miles southwest of Columbia, South Carolina and 122 miles northwest of Savannah, Georgia. Fort Eisenhower's location offers close proximity to a metropolitan area and is an easy drive from Atlanta, Savannah the beaches along the Atlantic Ocean and the mountains.
Duties
Responsible for the receipt and effective evaluation of 9-1-1 emergency calls to determine the problem and nature of the call.
Dispatch a variety of emergency response units to notify police, fire department staff, and other agencies concerning incidents when needed.
Conduct and provide system reports regarding access of all critical facilities.
Verify the location, call back number for the incident, and determine the patient's chief complaint, age, level of consciousness and breathing status.
Provide emergency medical dispatching assistance to callers with medical emergencies.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires rotating shifts.
- This position is subject to a pre-employment screening, and random testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident.
- This position requires current state driver's license.
- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) up to 5%.
- This position requires the incumbent to wear a prescribed uniform and safety apparel.
- This position requires the incumbent to successfully pass a National Criminal Information Center (NCIC) Interstate Identification Index (III) background check.
- This is a Weather Inclement Essential position and requires the incumbent to report to duty station during inclement weather, Natural Disasters, Terrorist Force Protection Condition, installation closure and other emergencies as regularly scheduled.
- This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
- This position requires the incumbent to be responsible for attaining Containing Dispatch Education (CDE) requirements through in-service training that is offered locally and any mandatory Department of Army (DA) Civilian training.
- This position has a requirement to lift up to 10 lbs.
- Possess and maintain Criminal Justice Information System (CJIS) Terminal Operator certification within 30 days of employment.
- Possess and maintain certifications in the following: International Academy Emergency Dispatch protocols Emergency Medical Dispatch, Emergency Fire Dispatch, and Emergency Police Dispatch within 6-months of employment.
- Possess and maintain certifications in the following: Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), DoD's Telecommunicator I/II, Incident Command System IS-100, IS-144. IS-200, IS-700, and DoD Hazardous Materials Awareness within 6-months of employment.
- This position requires the incumbent to work alternative work schedule and mandatory overtime which requires an uncommon tour of duty including nights, weekends and holidays.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes work that involves answering emergency calls for Fire, Medical, and Law Enforcement by telephone, radio system or computer-aided dispatch system. Knowledge of law enforcement and fire service terminology, techniques and procedures to dispatch appropriate equipment and apparatus to emergency situations, prioritizing incoming emergency and non-emergency calls, and providing instructions concerning emergency actions such as first aid. Ability to operate various computer and communication equipment simultaneously. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05).
Proficiency Required: This position requires a qualified typist. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors. Are you a qualified typist?
