The primary purpose of this position PRODUCTION CONTROLLER (AIRCRAFT) GS-1152-07, is to perform a variety of production planning, scheduling, and supply tasks in direct support of depot maintenance programs such as the repair, overhaul, manufacture, and/or modification of complex weapon systems.
Duties
Assist higher-graded Production Support Technicians in reviewing and developing workload schedules.
Monitor work in progress.
Provide material management support for repair, overhaul, manufacture, and/or modification of equipment and/or parts requiring special handling.
As required, supports the Hazardous Distribution Support Center (HDSC).
Maintain material records.
Requirements

- Overtime may be required to accomplish assigned duties.
- May be required to work alternating shifts.
- This position may be designated mission essential based on local conditions. Mission essential personnel report for duty at normal times when the base is closed or delayed reporting and remain on duty during phased or early release.
Qualifications
Experience requirements are described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Clerical and Administrative Support Positions. Due to the use of 120-day rosters, this period of experience may be completed within 120 days of the closing date of this announcement.
GS-7
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one year (52 weeks) of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-05, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes preparing production plans for specific projects and operations through the compilation of customer requirements, engineering designs, specification, and machining process data; determine the status of work in progress, time required to complete the job, the availability of materials, tools required, and reassess priorities.
FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-05 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-07 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements. Due to the use of 120 day rosters, applicants within 120 days of completion of TIG requirements are encouraged to apply.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
Knowledge of the production organization, and associated production methods and processes, labor, machinery, manpower, and material requirements.
Knowledge of the product to correlate and analyze a variety of routine production data and processes and prepare outlines for basic production schedules.
Knowledge of governing supply regulations, procedures, instructions, functions, operations, program requirements, and work methods.
Skill in data entry and utilizing automated systems.
Ability to schedule and monitor both planned and unplanned workloads.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, and climb in industrial facilities where it is necessary to bend, crouch, stoop, reach, and lift moderately heavy items. May also be required to perform these functions in obstructed areas.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: The employee works in an office setting part of the time, but is also required to regularly visit production areas, which involve moderate risks, discomfort, and require safety precautions. Visits to industrial areas take place in all weather conditions. The employee may be exposed to strong odors, fumes from paint, fuels, or chemicals used in the work processes. Regular use of safety equipment is an occupational requirement.
