Duties
You will serve as a NUCLEAR MECHANICAL AND STRUCTURAL SYSTEMS INSPECTOR (SHIPS) in the REFUELING BRANCH (CODE 139.3), NUCLEAR INSPECTION DIVISION, QUALITY ASSURANCE OFFICE, PORTSMOUTH NAVAL SHIPYARD, VIRGINIA.
You will perform mechanical, piping, and structural inspections, pre-arrival and material condition assessment inspections, in-process, product, pre-test, test inspections, certification and acceptance of completed work.
You will perform weld joint in-process and acceptance inspections for nuclear welding and non-destructive tests (NOT).
You will initiate and authorize rejection of workmanship, components, materials, and procedures that do not meet specifications.
You will verify rigging where specified for special purpose service (SPS) lifts in accordance with local directives.

Experience performing mechanical, piping, and structural inspections, pre-arrival and material condition assessment inspections, in-process, product, pre-test, test inspections, certification and acceptance of completed work.
Experience identifying deficiencies and documents on nuclear deficiency reports.
Experience performing work reviews on nuclear reactor plant, refueling and overhaul work.
Experience utilizing special measuring and inspection devices such as precision micrometers, precision gauge blocks, Heise gauges, durometer testers, thread gauges, borescopes, and Vernier calipers.
Experience performing receipt inspection, pre-use inspection and marking verification of naval nuclear material.
