About the Position: This position is with the United States Army Reserve Command, Deputy Chief of Staff, G-3/5/7, Office of Provost Marshal, Intrusion Detection System Section, with duty at Fort McCoy, Wisconsin.
Duties
Troubleshoot Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS) with personnel in the field to determine solutions.
Troubleshoot security systems database software.
Multi-task in acknowledging numerous alarms, answering phones, solving problems with technicians in the field and filling out a variety of forms at the same time.
Distribute and balance work among employees.
Resolve simple, informal employee complaints and elevate those requiring the supervisor's attention.
Dispatch civilian and military emergency service personnel responding to alarm activation.
Instruct current employees on new tasks and job techniques.
Provide on the job training to new employees.
Train personnel outside the organization on the proper utilization and operation of various IDS systems.
Assist in the preparation of local Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's)
Prepare and update manuals, instructions, and operation procedures.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- The duties of this position may require the incumbent to work evenings, nights, holidays, and/or weekends to include modification in shifts and/or tour of duty, and work may involve mandatory overtime.
- The duties of this position subject the incumbent to an irregular tour of duty to cover 24 hours, 7 days a week operations.
- Incumbent is required to attend and pass the Conventional Physical Security Course.
- Incumbent is required to attend and pass the Electronics Security School Course.
- The duties of this position may require the incumbent to report to duty in the event of an emergency and will be expected to report or remain at the worksite during dismissal or closure stations.
- Position is designated key/mission essential.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes interpreting security regulations; processing security requests; using a variety of automated data bases to create, analyze, and distribute critical information, and implement current security guidance directed from higher level commands. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).
