Duties
Serve as the authority regarding range use, safety, development, and enforcement of training area policies, programs, plans, and activities.
Monitor the effectiveness and enforcement of the installation range safety program and ensures that range and training safety operations briefings are conducted for all personnel involved in organizing, supervising, or controlling training.
Direct range patrol activities to include inspection of range and training sites and ensures training is conducted in a safe manner.
Coordinate and schedules overall range maintenance based training priorities.
Develop budget requirements and justification based upon past experience and anticipated operational needs.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- A current State or Federal OF346 driver's license is required; must be able to operate both a four-wheel drive vehicle with standard transmission and an off-road all-terrain vehicle. Work requires driving on hazardous roads and terrain.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes planning, developing, executing, and evaluating all aspects of range operations maintenance planning; identify training facilities shortfalls while taking appropriate steps to ensure corrective action is taken; and planning work to be accomplished by subordinates based on priorities. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).
