About the Position: This is a permanent position with the Directorate of Plans, Training, Mobility & Security (DPTMS) at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri.
Duties
Assist in annual or periodic inventories of parts, tools and test equipment.
Maintain accountability of Training Aids, Devices, Simulators, or Simulations (TADSS), supplies, parts, and equipment.
Inspect materials being returned for proper wear and repair.
Ensure items requiring maintenance or service are annotated in a tracking system database.
Issue equipment ensuring hand-receipt holders are on valid signature card.
Control records of account holders' requests.
Process requests from units for authorized Training Aids, Devices, Simulators, and Simulations (TADSS), equipment, parts, and supplies.
Program requirement for repair parts, requests or to receive items.
Assist personnel in the proper usage of Training Aids, Devices, Simulators, and Simulations (TADSS), and equipment.
Provide technical guidance on repair and disposal of equipment.
Provide instruction on Training Support-Materiel Army wide Tracking System (TS-MATS), and similar systems.
Examine incoming shipments for proper type, quantity and quality.
Utilize property accountability databases to prepare a variety of reports, statistics, memos and logs.
Apply supply procedures such as storage, accountability and reporting in order to manage an account for a large inventory of property.
Prepare monthly utilization reports on Training Aids, Devices, Simulators, and Simulations (TADSS).
Initiate of Financial Liability Investigations of Property Loss and Statements of Charges.
Requirements
- Appointment to this position is subject to a background investigation to determine your suitability for Federal employment.
- This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
- This position has a requirement to lift up to 50 lbs. in the regular performance of duties.
- Appointment to this position is subject to a one-year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 10% of the time.
- Due to the nature of this position, employees are required to work both planned and unscheduled overtime.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a forklift operator certificate within 6 months.
- Position requires the wear of safety equipment such as safety shoes, goggles, hardhat when necessary.
- The employee may assume essential personnel status during inclement weather/emergencies.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-06 grade level in the Federal service which includes 1) Conducting inventories; 2) Issuing equipment to proper recipients and maintain accountability; and 3) Researching data to investigate discrepancies. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06).
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-06).
