Duties
This position serves as a Wideband Satellite Communications (SATCOM) Transmissions and Payload Controller, in support of a Wideband SATCOM Operations Center (WSOC). WSOCs operate 24-hours a day/7-days-a-week providing Wideband SATCOM transmissions, payload, and defensive space control support for US Department of Defense (DOD), non-DOD, Combatant Commands, Services, Agencies, International Partners, Allied Forces, and other users. Wideband control is conducted on military SATCOM (MILSATCOM) systems, mainly the Wideband Global SATCOM (WGS) system, the Defense Satellite Communications System (DSCS), and Global Broadcast Service (GBS) operations. WSOCs collaborate closely with Wideband SATCOM users, planners, and managers, to deliver SATCOM, implement SATCOM restoral, assist with Electromagnetic Interference (EMI) resolution, and provide situational awareness.
Requirements
- Must be a U.S Citizen.
- Required to handle and safeguard sensitive and/or classified information in accordance with regulations to reduce potential compromise.
- Employee must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret w/ SCI clearance.
- Employee needs to obtain and maintain approval to access the portfolio of Special Access Programs required to perform daily duties.
- This position is designated as a Testing Designated Position (TDP) under the Air Force Civilian Drug Testing Program.
- It is required that you (a) refrain from the use of illegal drugs and (b) if requested, submit to urinalysis testing.
- May be required to travel by military or commercial aircraft in the performance of TDY assignments.
- May be required to work an irregular tour (ie shift work)
- May be required to work overtime on an unscheduled or emergency basis.
- This position is not eligible for remote or telework.

Education
Undergraduate and Graduate Education: Major study -- electrical or electronic engineering, mathematics, physics, public utilities, statistics, computer science, telecommunications management, information systems management, business administration, industrial management, or other fields related to the position to be filled.
Other Education: Communications/electronics or automatic data processing training in technical institutes or business schools above the high school level or in Armed Forces schools that included advanced instruction in addition to basic courses, may be substituted for general experience on a month-for-month basis.
