About the Position: Fort Cavazos rests in the beautiful 'hill and lake' country of Central Texas between Killeen and Copperas Cove and is approximately 60 miles north of the capital city of Austin, 50 miles south of Waco, 160 miles south of Dallas, and 150 miles north of San Antonio.

Duties

Operate the digitized audio system to announce emergency pre-recorded messages. Operate the facility wide system to convey official emergency notifications to the public. Evaluate 911 emergency calls to determine jurisdiction of services render. Consult with management on personnel administration matters to recommend course of actions. Retrieve statistical data from incident reporting systems to maintain statistical reports.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
  • This position requires the incumbent to obtain and maintain certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) training.
  • This position is subject to rotating shifts where the incumbent is required to work an alternate work schedule, which requires an uncommon tour of duty (including nights, weekends, and holidays).
  • This position has been designated "Mission Essential". In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.
  • This position requires the incumbent to obtain and maintain Advanced Medical Priority Dispatch System certification.
  • This position requires the incumbent to obtain and maintain Telecommunication II certification.
  • This position requires the incumbent to obtain and maintain DoD Hazardous Materials Awareness certification.
  • This position requires the incumbent to obtain and maintain Texas Crime Information Center (TCIC) and National Crime Information (NCIC) training.
  • This position requires the incumbent to maintain Continuing Dispatch Education (CDE) requirements.
  • This position requires the incumbent to obtain and maintain Continuing Dispatch and Intrusion Detection education requirements through in-service training that is offered locally and pass with predetermined course requirements.
  • Incumbent must be able to perform work in a highly stressful, restricted office environment.
  • Position is subject to recall to duty, and incumbent must maintain a functioning telephone at their residence to aid in contact during recall/emergency situations.
  • The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
  • The incumbent must be able to obtain/maintain access to criminal justice information systems.
