This position is located in the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), Veterans Health Administration (VHA), Veterans Integrated Service Network 6 (VISN 6), at the Salem VA Medical Center (VAMC) in Salem, Virginia, within the Office of the Chief of the Pharmacy Service. This position reports directly to the Chief of the Pharmacy- Service (i.e., a pharmacist).

Duties

Duties include but not limited to: Complete priority requests from the Service Chief. Transmits, receives, and acknowledges electronic mail. messages, consistently showing proficiency in grammar, spelling, capitalization, punctuation, usage, mechanics, etc. Schedule meetings with other employees using independent judgement and discretion. Coordinates and schedules meetings requested by the Service Chief. Organizes and maintains paper and electronic files and destroys out of date files. Makes travel arrangements for Pharmacy Service personnel, which include travel and accommodation reservations, in a timely manner and in accordance with applicable VA regulations. Produce accurate meeting agendas and minutes. Prepares and distributes minutes for monthly Pharmacy, Therapeutics Committee, and other Service staff meetings. Requisitions. Office supplies, equipment, and services using automated systems. Serve as the Timekeeper for the Service, ensuring that various employee work schedules and records of leave usage are posted properly and in a timely manner. Resolves time and attendance related discrepancies and errors. Maintain responsibility for distributing Leave and Earning Statements (LESs). ·Maintain a tracking log for other records, such as those related to on-the-job injuries, lost time accidents, extended leave, Leave Without Pay (LWOP), etc. Work closely with the Human Resources Management Service (HRMS), preparing Requests for Personnel Actions (RPAs/SF-52s) and following up with the required certifying documents when needed. Maintain personnel competency and FPPE/OPPE folders, which involves ensuring that education requirements, certifications, licenses, and peer reviews are up-to-date and accurate. Qualifications

To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 11/16/2023. Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-5 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-4. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment. Selective Placement Factor: This position requires the skills of a qualified typist. In addition to meeting the experience and/or education requirements, you must be able to type at least 40 words per minute. You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below: Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-4 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: receiving visitors and telephone calls to the office; scheduling appointments; coordinating meetings and conferences; preparing correspondence, reports, memoranda, and other forms of written communication; preparing travel arrangements; maintaining files and utilizing office automation software. You will be rated on the following Competencies for this position: DecisivenessOral CommunicationWriting Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religions; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment. Physical Requirements: The work of this position is primarily sedentary in nature but does occasionally require some short periods of physical exertion, such as when standing during presentations or training or when walking to other parts of the Medical Center. No special physical demands are required by the work of this position.
