Duties
AFWERX is searching for an accomplished security specialist to assume the pivotal role of Chief of Information Protection (CIP) within our dynamic Operations Division (AFRL/RGO). In this capacity, you will lead the charge in conceiving, executing, and managing groundbreaking Information, Industrial, Personnel, Physical, OPSEC, and STINFO security initiatives for both controlled unclassified and classified programs. This position is open to all Federal Civilian Employees.
Position duties include, but are not limited to:
Provides security oversight for all of RG, a geographically dispersed organization, ensuring personnel, information, technologies, and missions are properly protected and that customer needs are met.
Plans, organizes, and executes organizational Information Protection activities to ensure compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements. Administers the DoD, USAF, AFMC, and AFRL IP policies.
Administers all aspects/requirements of the Information, Industrial, Personnel, Physical, OPSEC, and STINFO security programs for AFWERX.
Provides direct support and security advice to RG Director and leadership to execute Security Program responsibilities. Implements plans/strategies to resolve highly complex, sensitive, and/or controversial security issues.
Coordinates/works with Security counterparts (SSR, ISSM, ISSO, GSSO) in support of Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) and Special Access Program (SAP) missions and facilities.

- Ability to obtain and maintain a Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) security clearance.
- This is a drug testing designated position. The incumbent will be subject to random testing.

- This position is approved for remote work and duty location can be negotiated after selection.
- Ability to obtain and maintain two (2) Security Professional Education and Development (SPeD) security certifications: Security Fundamentals Professional Certification (SFPC) and Security Programs Integration Professional Certification (SPIPC).
- Must be located within 50 miles of an Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) CONUS unit.
- Travel up to 25%

Experience requirements are described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions.
Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade DR/DO-02/GS-13 or equivalent in other pay systems. Specialized experience includes experience in administering a variety of security problems, questions, or situations in Information, Industrial, Personnel, Physical, OPSEC, and/or STINFO programs. Experience gained in non-federal positions will also be reviewed for specialized experience.

Located near Wright-Patterson AFB
While the position location is in Austin, TX, the preferred remote working location is local to Wright-Patterson AFB, Dayton, OH. However, candidates within 50 miles of an Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) CONUS unit may be considered.
