The incumbent serves as the Data Entry/Office Clerk in the Patient Services Section area for the Prosthetic and Sensory Aids Service (P&SAS) of the Greater Los Angeles Healthcare System.
Duties
As the Data Entry/Office Clerk, incumbent greets and screens visitors to the office in order to assist or direct them to the proper person. Courteously answers calls from the P&SAS's main telephone line. Assists with telephone inquiries or directs to appropriate staff member. Promptly returns or forwards messages.
The incumbent reviews and distributes electronic P&SAS consults to appropriate purchasing agent. Incumbent assists veterans by issuing them out appropriate requested items available in stock. They deliver requested durable medical equipment to inpatient wards and outpatient clinic locations. She/ He posts items issued from stock and completes the consult for services rendered in the P&SAS package.The incumbent assists in receiving ordered bulk inventory, unboxes them and places them in the appropriate aisle. They also identify individual patient orders, researches the order details in our system and forwards them on as directed. The incumbent receives, reviews and distributes in-coming mail and received faxes to appropriate personnel. Assists purchasing agents with packaging and mailing out supplies to veteran's residence.This key position is also designed to provide administration and clerical support to the P&SAS as needed. She/ He posts items issued from stock and completes the consult for services rendered in the P&SAS package.
The incumbent receives, reviews and distributes in-coming mail to appropriate personnel. Assists purchasing agents with packaging and mailing out supplies to veteran's residence.
The position also provides administration and clerical support to the P&SAS as needed.

Qualifications
Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-05 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-04.The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade.

GS-05
You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below:
Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-04 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: Perform data entry to post all stock issues to patient records; Review the accuracy of consults requests, and to insure that the specific nature of a veteran's problem is satisfied through the issuance of specific equipment; Analyze and identify potential problems with veterans and to make the appropriate referral to Purchasing team; Operates the prosthetic software package to maintain a detailed and accurate accounting of all transactions taken for veterans and documents their records (must be in resume).

Education: Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have 4 years education above the high school level? One year of full-time academic study is defined as 30 semester hours, 45 quarter hours, or the equivalent in a college or university, or at least 20 hours of classroom instruction per week for approximately 36 weeks in a business, secretarial, or technical school. You must upload a copy of your transcript if using this option to qualify for this position.
OR
Combination: Applicants may also combine education and experience to qualify at this level. You must have an combination of specialized experience and education beyond the first 60 semester hours (or its equivalent as described above). To calculate this, first take your total qualifying Specialized Experience and divide it by 12. Then divide the total amount of Education beyond the first 60 semester hours (or its equivalent as described in B. above) by the required amount of education. Add the two percentages together. The sum must add up to 100% or more to qualify using this provision. One full academic year of study (30 semester hours) beyond the second year is equivalent to 6 months of specialized experience.

Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment.
