This is a Temporary Appointment for initially 1 year and may be extended in increments not-to-exceed 1 year for up to 8 years in total as long as intern continues to meet program eligibility requirements.
Duties
Interns may perform any or all of the following duties depending on the qualifying grade level selected for the position.
Uses office automation equipment and software programs to type, edit and create a variety of documents.
Ensures documents are error-free, ensuring correct punctuation, spelling, capitalization, and grammar.
Receives incoming telephone calls and visitors and refers them to the appropriate staff members.
Sends, receives, and distributes electronic mail and telephone FAX documents and operates office photocopier.
Determines supplies needed for the office staff and arranges for office equipment repairs.
Arranges travel for staff, including scheduling transportation, making room reservations, preparing travel authorizations and itineraries, and preparing travel vouchers.
Acts as primary or alternate/backup timekeeper, prepares and transmits Time and Attendance records and reports for office staff.
Requirements

- Must be in good academic standing as defined by the agency as a GPA of at least 2.0.
- Enrolled at least half-time at a qualifying (accredited) educational institution.
- A signed participant agreement is required for employment under Pathways.

Qualifications
Applicants must meet all qualifications and eligibility requirements by the closing date of the announcement as defined below.
PATHWAYS PROGRAM ELIGIBILITY: Applicants must be currently enrolled or accepted for enrollment from a qualifying educational institution on a full or half-time basis. Applicants must be seeking a degree (diploma, certificate, etc.) and be in good academic standing (GPA of 2.0 or equivalent) throughout the duration of their program. Please see "Required Documents". The duties of the position must be related to either the student's academic or career goals.
GS-04
Education: Completion of 2 full academic years of post-high school study or an associate's degree.
Applicant must be able to type at least 40 words per minute.
GS-05
Education: Completion of 4 academic years of post-high school leading to a bachelor's degree or equivalent degree.
Applicant must be able to type at least 40 words per minute.
Applicants will be assessed/evaluated through application of the agency developed qualification standard for internship positions, which is based solely on level of education.
